IS YOUR TANK DUE?

Signs your septic tank needs pumping

If any of these sound like your house, call us. A full tank is the first thing to rule out.

THE VISIT

What happens when we pump your tank

A septic tank holds three layers: liquid in the middle, scum floating on top and solids settled on the bottom. Pumping removes all three so the tank has room again.

You call (985) 868-6854 and tell us your town and anything you know about the tank. Our truck comes out, the crew opens the tank, vacuums it out and hauls the waste away.

If you know where your tank lids are, tell us when you call. It helps the crew get started.

How often does a septic tank need pumping?

It depends on how many people live in the house and how big the tank is. A bigger household fills a tank faster than a smaller one. For most homes it comes to every few years.

Not sure when yours was last done? Call (985) 868-6854. If you cannot remember the last pump-out, it is time to schedule one, and a note of the date helps next time.

WET GROUND, HIGH WATER

After heavy rain, high water and storms

South Louisiana soil stays wet much of the year. When the ground is already soaked, a tank has less room to work with.

Heavy rain, high water and hurricane season, June to November, put extra load on tanks. A tank that is already full has nowhere to go, so call before the storm if yours is overdue.

HOUSE SALES

Buying or selling a home on septic

When a home on septic is sold, buyers or sellers often want the tank pumped. If you are selling, it is one item done. If you are buying, ask the seller when the tank was last pumped.

Tell us your closing date when you call (985) 868-6854.

RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL

Homes and businesses

We pump septic tanks at houses, and at shops, offices and other commercial buildings that are not on public sewer.

Run a restaurant or commercial kitchen? Your grease trap is its own job. See grease trap pumping.

OLDER SYSTEMS

Cesspool pumping

A cesspool is an older setup, a pit that collects household waste without the tank-and-drain-field design a septic tank uses. Some older properties still have one.

We pump cesspools too. If you are not sure whether you have a tank or a cesspool, tell us what you know when you call.

Have a home treatment plant instead? See sewer plant pumping.

WHERE WE PUMP

Where we pump septic tanks

Our home base is in Houma, and we work about 40 miles out. Much of the city of Houma is on public sewer, so many of our septic calls come from the communities around it: Bayou Blue, Gray, Schriever, Bourg, Chauvin, Montegut, Dulac, Theriot, Bayou Black, Bayou Dularge and Gibson.

In Lafourche Parish, see septic pumping in Thibodaux. In St. Mary Parish, see septic pumping in Morgan City. Raceland, Chackbay, Lockport, Des Allemands and the rest are on all the communities we serve.

Septic pumping questions

How often should a septic tank be pumped?

It depends on household and tank size; most homes go every few years. If you’re not sure when it was last pumped, tell us when you call.

How do I know my septic tank is full?

Slow drains, gurgling pipes, a sewage smell and soggy ground over the tank are common signs. If you cannot remember the last pump-out, that is a reason to call too.

Why does my tank fill faster after heavy rain?

Wet ground and high water leave a tank less room to work, and a tank that is already full has nowhere to go. An overdue tank tends to show it sooner after a storm.

Do you pump septic tanks for businesses?

Yes. We pump residential and commercial septic tanks. Restaurants and commercial kitchens also need their grease traps pumped, which we do as a separate job.

Should I pump my tank before I buy or sell a home?

Buyers or sellers often ask for it when a home on septic changes hands. If you are buying, ask when the tank was last pumped. If you are selling, tell us your closing date when you call.

Do you pump cesspools?

Yes. A cesspool is an older pit that holds household waste, and we pump them. Tell us what you know about the system when you call (985) 868-6854.
