Many south Louisiana homes use a small home sewage treatment plant instead of a standard septic tank. Locals call it a sewer plant or a treatment plant. The technical name is an aerobic unit.
Like a septic tank, a plant collects solids. Those solids build up over time, and somebody has to pump them out. That is our part.
Louisiana’s Sanitary Code requires new individual mechanical plants to come with a maintenance service policy. Your plant’s maintenance provider handles the mechanical side of the plant.
A-1 pumps out the accumulated solids when the tank needs it. Not sure who your provider is? Check the paperwork that came with the plant, or call us and we will talk it through.
Seeing one of these? Call and tell us what you noticed.

Came out next day and pumped out our system with no problems.
You call (985) 868-6854 and tell us your community. Our truck comes out, the crew vacuums the accumulated solids out of the plant and hauls them away.
If you know where the plant is and how to reach it, tell us when you call.
None of this is required. Call (985) 868-6854 with whatever you know.
South Louisiana soil stays wet much of the year. Heavy rain, high water and hurricane season, June to November, put extra load on home plants.
A plant that is already full has nowhere to go. If yours is due, call before the storm.
Much of the city of Houma is on public sewer. Plants and septic tanks are common in the bayou communities outside the sewer service area, from Bayou Blue, Gray and Schriever down to Bourg, Chauvin, Montegut and Dulac. See the bayou communities in Terrebonne Parish we cover.
In Lafourche Parish, see septic pumping in Thibodaux. In St. Mary Parish, see septic pumping in Morgan City.
Have a standard tank instead of a plant? See septic tank pumping.
A septic tank is a plain tank where solids settle out. A sewer plant, also called an aerobic unit, is a small mechanical treatment plant. Both collect solids that have to be pumped out.
No. Your plant’s maintenance provider handles the mechanical side. A-1 pumps out the accumulated solids when the tank needs it.
Odor, slow drains and solids or sludge showing up where they should not are common signs. Your maintenance provider may also tell you it is due.
It depends on the household and the plant. Your maintenance provider can tell you what your plant needs. If you’re not sure when it was last pumped, tell us when you call.
Your plant’s maintenance provider handles the mechanical side, so start with them. If they say the solids are due, call A-1 at (985) 868-6854.
